We’re Hiring: One Dynamic Administrative Assistant
You love the vision, mission, and work of both Bridges to Belonging and Waterloo Region Family Network. You are inspired by the organizations and your colleagues, and as a team player, you want to do your part to support them. You’re friendly, courteous, and helpful to families, self-advocates, and the public, and you’re comfortable being the friendly voice at the other end of the phone or email.
The only thing you like better than chaos is making sense of that chaos and getting it organized. You’re equal parts ‘go-with-the-flow’ and ‘I’ve-got-this.’ You’re comfortable in a quiet office / a crowded office / fielding phone calls / running errands / setting up for events. You’re confident in taking initiative and making decisions, trying (and creating) new processes or programs, and generally doing your work with minimal supervision. You also have a good sense for when to seek supervision or clarification, and you use your strong communication skills to seek out an answer.
For you, keeping an office organized is a cinch. You may not be Bill Gates, but you are comfortable with computers generally. Typing, emails, and using Microsoft and Google office is a breeze. You can keep files organized, and you’re comfortable creating and modifying templates and spreadsheets. Even if you haven’t done invoicing or basic bookkeeping before, you’re keen to learn and you’re confident in your ability to catch on quickly.
Even with minimal hours of work in a week, you’re able to keep yourself – and your environment and colleagues – organized. You’re comfortable with others relying on you to keep things moving, happy to adapt and react, and enjoy being a vital part of a team. In fact, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
- The successful applicant will begin work in late March/early April, with time to shadow and learn from the incumbent.
- 14 hours per week with Bridges to Belonging and 5 hours per week with WRFN at a rate of $16.10 / hour, plus 6% vacation pay. Bridges to Belonging is a committed Living Wage employer.
- Hours of work are flexible, with some evening work to support the organizations’ events and fundraising, taking minutes at board or committee meetings, and regular team meetings.
